Novel : Peter, A Love Story (Final Chapter)

Novel : Peter, A Love Story (Final Chapter)

(The novel Nysa’s Mirror concludes, and just who is Peter?…)   “Stop fidgeting!” My dearest friend and adopted sister, Susana, is exasperated with me, and I can’t really blame her. I have an important date, one a long time coming, and she is helping me get ready. I am nervous, twitchy and excited all at once, and that combination of emotional maelstrom make for one fidgety Nysa, ha! “You know, I always knew this day is coming,” she continues. I raise an eyebrow at her, as best I can while she is pulling and brushing and crimping my hair into shape. “Yep, ever since you came in here and talked incessantly about him. You never talk about any man like that, before! Not for as long as I’ve known you anyway.” She says somewhat smugly. “Oh, c’mon, Su, I did not talk about Peter all that much!” I protest. She raises her eyebrow at me. I falter, “I didn’t, did I?” “Oh my dear, it is all you ever talked about for a while! It is Peter this, Peter that, so much so that for a while there Brennan and I were making bets on when you guys were going out. Err, that is I mean…” “Wait, back up….what did you say?” I turn to look at Su. Su put her hands on my shoulders and tries to turn me around. “Well, I mean, let’s get your hair done…” “Nu-uh! Hold up!…

Novel : Nysa’s Mirror (Part 21)

Oh Dominic! Of course, I wouldn’t know how he was when he was around other people and I wasn’t around to see him interact with them. But all the signs were positive so far. Besides, relationship is all about risks and hopes, right, and getting to know the other person first, or so I thought. I guessed I wasn’t too naive after all. Anyway, time enough to make a concrete decision after all the pertinent information had been gathered. That sounded so detached, and rather mature, I demurred. And it goes both ways; he could be looking to get to know me first, too. I mean, just because you like a girl or a boy doesn’t mean it’s a done deal. Also let’s…

Novel : Nysa’s Mirror (Part 19)

Here is a blast from the past, such as it was. When I was thirteen, I met a boy. Yes, I know, I make it sound as if I’ve never met a boy before. But truth is, I met a boy I liked, who turned out to be my first crush. Dominic, the boy, he was thirteen too, tall for his age but quite skinny, all gangly limbs and graceless teenage awkwardness of a boy just growing into his body. Kind of like how I was, except I…

Trey and Christina -or Chris as she prefers to be called – are the two singles who live on the Tang’s floor. Chris is a dancer and dance choreographer, and it shows too in her lean but strong body. She moves with an effortless grace and limberness I envy, like a slender reed swaying in the wind at times. Trey is the ambitious photographer, taking his correspondent course in Art and Photography. It is early days, but there is already a bit of a drama…

The Essence Of Life

The Essence Of Life

Sometimes when the day dawns bleak and you feel like everything is so dark in your life, you wonder why you even bother getting out of bed. You don’t see the Sun shining bright; you can’t hear the birds singing or see the flowers blooming; you don’t hear laughter or voices talking in peaceful rhythm with each other. You feel so far apart from everything and everyone. Your soul feels alone and lonely. You wonder why you keep doing this…

Poetry : Adored Love

Poetry : Adored Love

MY LOVE, sweet is the moment when I think of you, Glorious is the day and the sky so blue; The brightness of the Sun, the lightness of the breeze, The perfumed flowers – this is your kiss. The cool, soft touch of the falling rain, The gentle caress of your loving hand. The music of the brooks – oh so dear, The sound of your voice, whispering in my ear. Dearest, these things I love because of you, I…

Novel : Nysa’s Mirror (Part 3)

Chapter 2: BEHOLD, THE NEIGHBORS AGAIN Peter is in his late twenties or early thirties. Not too old, my mind as usual goes off on a tangent and manages to inform me. Not bad looking either, but is in fact rather attractive in a yummy-professor sort of way (yes, I did in fact said ‘yummy’). Or, if one likes the ‘up-tight businessman’ look, he is all stiff collar, spiffy shoes and starched suit. My back hurts just looking at him. But I figure we have already pretty much established that…

And somewhat bemused. But hey, he’s here, and we have already introduced ourselves. Now what? And why am I this flustered? It is not as if this is the first time I meet someone new. So, let’s start with his name.  Peter huh. Far cry from Jim or Jake or Mack. Why did I think those were one of his names? Amused, a small smile curled my lips. Lost in thought, I may be forgetting that Peter is still standing in my doorway, no doubt by now…

Poetry : Lovely, You Are Lovely

Poetry : Lovely, You Are Lovely

Your countenance is altogether lovely, my love, Your smile beckons me closer; Like the stars shining in the heavens above, Your eyes shine, making me grow bolder. My heart beats a joyous rhythm, Skipping a’dance to the happy tune, Singing to the words of this psalm, Flowing softly into a gentle croon. The sight of you is thusly mine welcome, A sight to behold for sore eyes; My once cold heart no more numb, For in my soul your gentleness…
