Hidden No More
Mark 4:22 KJV
“For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad.”
I remember an incident which involved myself when I was in school. A classmate accused me of cheating during a Math test. She was jealous because I received a higher mark than hers.
I mean, sure Math wasn’t my strongest subject; I was an average student when it came to numbers. Even so, when I studied before a test, I would most certainly passed with acceptable results.
Anyway, I passed my test and she didn’t. She accused me of cheating. I said, “No. I studied.” She went away in a huff, still insisting I cheated.
Long story short, we soon had our year-end exam. No way anyone could cheat when we had a hawk-eyed substitute examiner watching our every moves. Guess what? I passed with satisfactory result on my Math paper, because I studied. The classmate who accused me of cheating, barely did pass, by the skin of her teeth.
As my best friend said smugly, “How’s she gonna accuse you of cheating now?! She’s lucky she manage to crawl within the acceptable passing mark! Now she knows that you didn’t cheat. But she should have if she wanna keep passing, ha!”
Well, I mean, I laughed as well back then. Hey, I was young, okay? Also, I felt vindicated. For what it’s worth though, I wouldn’t laugh now.
This is a rather poor example to give, but the point stands: All things will become known.
We cannot think that we can get away with doing evil things, even when no one knows. Some people take their secrets to the grave with them. But even if no one will ever know, God does.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 KJV
“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.”
Everything we say and do, can and will be used against us or for us. Nothing stays hidden forever before God.
Let it be that repentance and forgiveness only save us from the fiery judgement of God. If things are to remain hidden, let it be by the Grace of God for we have exposed them before Him in repentance and seeking of forgiveness. Amen.
