2 Peter 3:10 KJV
“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.”
Every Christian h been expecting the Lord’s return during their lifetime. I remember my late grandma said that The King is coming soon. She said that she was ready for Him to come and take her up to Heaven. Soon after, my grandma died. Well, the Lord did take her home, and that is the important matter.
However, with the promises and prophecies concerning The King’s very imminent return most prominent in the faithful and expectant Christian’s heart, one can’t help but hope that it is soon. Thus, the waiting seems long for many believers, especially in this current world’s climate of every aspects.
When is The King returning? Soon?
2 Peter 3:8 KJV
“But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”
This is to say, that we are to wait in faith and hope because He has given His Word and Promise, but the time is up to Him. Only He knows when.
So but then, why the delay?
2 Peter 3:9 KJV
“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
The Good Lord knows that literally billions are not ready for His return. When He returns, He will be The King who defeats His enemy and gathers His people to Him. There will be no more negotiations or second chances since now is the time of grace and repentance. So in His infinite Mercy, He gives us now, the grace period to get ourselves right with Him, before He comes.
2 Peter 3:3-4 KJV
“Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.”
Naturally. There are unbelievers, mockers, scoffers, know-it-all who will try to sway your belief. Short of that, they mock your faith in The King’s return. If you as a Christian, gets embarrassed because you buy into their jeers, then lose faith, the devil wins over you. But make no mistake, The King is coming.
So what do we do?
2 Peter 3:14 KJV
Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
2 Peter 3:18 KJV
But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
There we have it, The King has spoken. He is coming soon, so let’s get ready, amen.
