Psalm 66:16 KJV
“Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.”
There is a story in which someone says snidely to a believer of Christ, “This God you worship. What has He ever done for you? For me? For anyone? All He ever does is take, take, take. So go ahead and tell me that He does not take!”
To the sceptic’s shock, the believer replies, “I agree with you actually. He did and does take a lot from me.”
After a beat, the other man says in satisfaction, ” Well there you have it. So go ahead, tell us all, what has He taken from you?”
And the child of God replies with utter conviction, “He has taken a lot from my soul. He has taken my hopelessness, bitterness, anger, hate, depression, dissatisfaction, disappointment, frustration and distrust. My God has also taken away my condemnation and lowliness. He takes away my lack of belief. And right now He is still working on taking away my lack of confidence in who I am as a person and as a child of His. Everyday since I have known Him and believe in Him, He has taken all these away and I imagine He still has to take a lot more. I feel cleaner and lighter because of this, and I am confident that I am worthy in His Presence. So yes, He has indeed taken a lot from me. He literally saves my life.”
I can identify with this brother and I belief many could as well. Which is why I can and will declare in any way I can about what my Lord has done for my soul. He saved me.
