Job 25:6 KJV
“How much less man, that is a worm? and the son of man, which is a worm?”
‘Well that’s not nice!” You could say. ‘Why call anyone a worm?!’ You could think.
But you know, this Bible Verse is not about what we think about others, but rather how we think about ourselves sometimes. We think so lowly of ourselves that we considered ourselves as the ugly, worthless, unlovable worm.
Psalm 22:6 KJV
“But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.”
But even worms have admirers and protectors who see something worth saving in them. Like the worm here; my niece took this picture.
I confess, I would have flicked that creature away from me in disgust (I hate worms) or even squished it dead, but my niece said then, “Aww look! A cute caterpillar! Leave it alone! Don’t disturb it! Let it live, give it a chance to be a butterfly!”
I imagine that creepy worm had since metamorphed into a lovely butterfly. I might have even seen it and admire it’s gorgeous wings.
We are not worms forever. We can be butterflies. Let ourselves grow and change for the better.
